At Home Family Worship - 1/25/26
Sing a worship song or two together as a family (a cappella is fine, so is off-key 😊)
Family Bible Discussion
Pray and ask God to speak to each family member’s heart through the Bible discussion this morning
Read aloud John 15:1-8
The Vine and the Branches
1“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
1. A reoccurring word in this passage is “abide” (some translations say, “remain”). When you
think of that word, what comes to mind?
2. In this passage you see a Vine, branches, and a gardener (vinedresser). Discuss the role
of each and how that applies to your Christian life.
3. In this passage we see that it is God’s will for every believer to bear much spiritual fruit.
- Can you give some examples of spiritual fruit?
- In v.2a and v.6, what does God do to the branch that never bears any spiritual fruit?
- In v.2b, what does God do to the branch that bears some spiritual fruit? (Note: this
often involves trials and tribulations). According to James 1:2-4, what do trials rightly
responded to by us, do for us?
- According to vv.4-5, what is the secret to bearing much spiritual fruit?
- v.8 states that when you bear much spiritual fruit, two things happen. What are these
two things?
4. What helps you personally “abide” in Christ? What tends to pull you away? What is God
saying to you about that?
