A Great Commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission grows a Great Church
THE BIBLE
We believe that the Bible is God's living, powerful, relevant, active word, and that we can trust it, believe it, and apply it with the confidence that, in so doing, we will be following God's best for our lives. Psalm 110:105; Isaiah 40:8; 2 Timothy 3:10-17
RELATIONSHIPS
God:
We believe that God exists in perfect relationship as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, thus modeling for His creation how genuine and authentic relationships work. We believe that the purpose of man and all creation is to bring glory to God. First Baptist Church desires that all we do would make much of God the Father and His son, Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 10:31, Romans 10:13
Family:
We believe that the family was the first permanent institution created by God and therefore has a special place with Him. The home is the first step in applying practical Biblical truth. It is our responsibility to equip families follow God's blueprint for the home as found in scripture. Genesis 2:24-25; Deuteronomy 6:1-9; Ephesians 5
People:
We believe that God created all people in His image, therefore making all people, as God's creation, vitally important to God. It is our responsibility as Christians to build relationships with all people in order to share the love and hope of Jesus Christ. Genesis 1:27; John 3:16, Philippians 2: 1-10
SPIRITUAL MATURITY
We believe that salvation is only the first step on the road to the spiritual maturity to which God calls His people to. The church is responsible to equip Christians to abide with Jesus Christ and follow Him. We believe that God has graced believers with powerful spiritual gifts which uniquely fit them for effective service to Christ. It is the church's responsibility to equip people to discover and use those spiritual gifts. Hebrews 6:1-3, Ephesians 4:11-12
RELEVANCE
We believe that we are called to communicate the truths of scriptures to our generation, and that we do that using the forms and styles familiar to our culture. We also believe that God is a creative being as testified to in creation and that God is glorified when we use the gifts and talents given to us by Him. We always want to be mindful that the message remains unchanging even though the methods of communicating that timeless message are changing. Genesis 1; Matthew 13
